Mangalore: Another Breakthrough - Three More Arrested for Resort Attack

Mangalore, Jul 31: In a fresh breakthrough, the police on Tuesday July 31 succeeded in arresting three more in connection with the attack on Morning Mist Home Stay resort.
The arrested are Varun Poojary (20) of Vamanjoor, Punith (19) of Kudupu, and Kiran Poojary (20) of Malali Matti, Kaikamba.

They too are said to be member of Hindu Janajangrana Vedike which carried out the attack on Saturday July 31.
With this, the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 15.
Four of them - Shailesh Jalligudde (23) of Bajal, Harish Kembar (25) of Alape, Chethan (25) of Nagori and Sunil (24) of Thokkottu were arrested on Monday July 30.
Eight others - Rajesh Panjibail (29) of Shaktinagar, Taranath Alva (45) of Padil, Subhas Padil (36) of Veeranagar, Munna Ganesh (27) of Kannur Perla, Sharat Perlaguri (29) of Radhakrishna Nagar,Padavinangadi; Venugopal Karmar (44) of Padil, Sandeep Shetty (29) of Amblamogaru and Taranath Perla (28) of Kannur - were arrested soon after the incident.
All the arrests were made by city crime branch (CCB) police led by inspector Venkatesh Prasanna.
The 12 who were arrested earlier have been rewarded judicial custody till August 13.
It is said that the arrests were made based on the statements given by those who were already caught before, and also with the help of the video footage of the incident.
On July 28, the activists broke into the resort where 13 youngsters were celebrating a birthday party and assaulted boys and girls. The issue has snowballed into a ranging debate, with students and public going on protests and political parties condemning the attack. However, the convener of HJV denied that his group was involved in the attack, and chose to shift the blame on Padil residents.
