Bangalore / Mangalore, Jul 28: Deputy chief minister of Karnataka R Ashok, who also holds the home ministry, has angrily reacted to the girl-bashing incident that took place on Saturday July 28 evening at the Morning Mist resort in Padil.
"I have ordered the city police commissioner of Mangalore to arrest the culprits immediately, whoever they are. No excuse should be given. No one has the right to bash girls, whether they are wrong or not. Who gave them the authority to beat girls ? Strict action will be taken on those culprits and they will be brought before the public"
He also pointed out that the activists raided the resort along with media persons with camera, which is wrong. Instead of taking media along with them, they should have taken the police, he said.
Jagadish Shettar, chief minister of Karnataka also condemned the incident, and said that culprits must be arrested immediately.
"I am in touch with home minister R Ashok. We will not spare those who violate law and order and take the law into their own hands"
As the government has to face the Assembly on Monday, the arrest of the culprits is likely within the next few hours.
