Mangalore / Beltangady, Jul 28 : Two young college students ended their lives on Friday July 27, once again raising questions on the temperament of young boys and girls in tackling personal or social issues.
Aishwarya Deepika, a 17-year-old PU student of Ujire SDM College committed suicide by hanging on Friday morning.
It is learnt that her neighbour Harshan Nair was forcing her into a love affair with him, and troubling her by sending SMS every day. Aishwarya, who did not like Harshan, reported the matter to her brother Deepak. Angered by Harshan's stubborn attitude, Deepak reportedly confronted him and asked him to stay away from his sister. Aishwarya's parents also warned Harshan not to trouble their daughter.
But Harshan reportedly attacked Deepak in public with the help of his friends. It is said that he even assaulted and abused his parents in public.
Aishwarya, who could not take the insult to her brother and parents, decided to end her life. Harsha is also a student.
Deepak is admitted to a hospital in Beltangady.
A case has been registered against Harshan for abetting the suicide and also for assault.
On the other hand, Harshan's family has filed a complaint against Deepak and his parents for assaulting Harshan.
Beltangady police are investigating the case. SDM College declared a holiday on Friday as a mark of respect on Aishwarya's demise.
In another case, a 20-year-old BBM student in the city committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan.
Sonial, daughter of Padmanabha Bhandary of Samrat Industry, Kaikamba, is the deceased.
She attended college on Friday. It is said that after coming back to her house located near Pompeii Church, she locked her door and hanged herself.
It is said that she was suffering from some eye problems.
