Mangalore: Fire Breaks Out at Kinnigoli Market, Two Shops Gutted

Mangalore, Jul 28: A major fire broke out at around 12.50 am on Saturday July 28 in the market at Panchayat Lane Building, next to SCDCC Bank here in Kinnigoli, in which two shops were totally gutted and one shop was partially damaged.

The security guard of Anugraha Jewellers who saw the flames first raised an alarm and informed the police and the fire brigade.

A vegetable shop owned by Venkappa and a fruit shop belonging to Shettigar were totally damaged in the fire while a footwear store was partially damaged.

A sum of Rs 30,000 borrowed by the vegetable vendor from a bank to pay dues to vegetable suppliers, was reduced to ashes. Fire brigade rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control, but the damage was already done.

A loss of around Rs 2 lac including cash and goods was reported.

Mulky police rushed to the spot  to ascertain the extent of damage. Locals also helped in the rescue operation. It it learnt that short circuit was the cause for the fire.

    Very sad to know that Venkappa's shop got fire. He is hardworking guy. He should get financial support /compensation so that he can gets livelihood.

    I was shocked to see that mr.venkappa's vegetable shop & muneer's fruits stall caught fire.i pray to almighty god to return back there loss.

    Sad and shocking to see the gutted shops. Thank God only a few shops are gutted.
    It is high time that the local bodies take steps to ensure the safey.
    If one can enter into the fish market and the surrounding area, no doubt one can smell the danger awaited.

    Roads are widening from the church towards the busstand. But what is the fate of the roads joining/entering from both directions from Moorukaver to kinnigoli bustand and Punaroor to Bustand?? Here too the accidents are awaited.
    Can some one think of widening the road @ this junction?

    A good coverage by the Daiji and Team.Kinnigloi is a markets, seen with old structures of a bamboo kind.A fire or short circuit like a unwanted guest knocking your door at any time.The concerned authorities should look into this matter seriously the safety of a kind in this markets.We always says'Prevention is better than cure' ?.

    Our business is Safety, and we always profess openly, keep safety as a priority in any business you do, otherwise do not brood over spilt milk.
