Mangalore: 'Yugapurusha' Founder Ko Aa Udupa Remembered on 65th Anniversary

Mangalore, Jul 26: "The late Ko Aa Udupa, founder of 'Yugapurusha' was a litterateur and helped innumerable literary persons to excel during his lifetime, thereby he became popular as Yugapurusha of Kinnigoli," said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking at the 20th death anniversary programme of Yugapurusha founder the late Ko Aa Udupa, held at Kinnigoli here on Tuesday July 24.
Bangalore-based litterateur M V Bhat (Shree Mittoor) was honoured with 'Ko Aa Udupa Award' and Brahmasree B Krishnamurti Samaga, temple priest of Vasuki Anantapadmanabha, Badagupete, Udupi, was also felicitated during the programme.
Laxminarayan Asranna, temple priest of Durgaparameshwari temple, Kateel inaugurated the programme. Veteran litterateur Sumukhanand Jalavalli delivered the ‘Ko Aa Udupa’ memorial lecture on the occasion.
Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor and litterateur K G Mallya released the recent books published by Yugapurusha Prakashana. Kodettoor Bhuvanabhirama Udupa honoured the authors of various books and state legal authority member Bahubali Prasad, on behalf of Yugapurusha.
Raviprasad, teacher of Pompei High School, Aikala; Supreeta, teacher of Sharada High School, Shimantoor; Swapna, teacher of Little Flower High School, Kinnigoli; Vasanti, teacher of Durgaparameshwari Pre-University College, Kateel distributed the scholarships sponsored by Ramachandra Bhat and Aroor Laxmi Rao, to talented students including Ananta Udupa and Padmanabha.
Dr Satish Holla memorial prize was presented to Dayavati, a student of Little Flower Higher Primary School, Kinnigoli; Vaidehi M, student of Durgaparameshwari higher Primary School, Kateel; Prajna, student of Sharada School, Shimantoor.
K Anand of Udayavani Kannada daily and Daijiworld Weekly editor Hemacharya were the chief guests. Authors Sridar D S, Aditya Prasad Pandelu and Ka Li Rai Dharwad, Yugapurusha advisor Dr Nayanabhirama Udupa, A P Satish Rao were present.
Yugapurusha editor-in-chief and publisher Bhuvanabhirama Udupa welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks. Sharat Shetty and P Gururaj Bhat read the citation. E Srinivas Bhat compered the programme.
Yakshagana play 'Sri Krishna Garudi Hagu Rani Swayamprabha' was staged by renowned artistes as part of the cultural programme.
