Udupi: Women Celebrate 'Aatidonji Dina' with Delightful Spread of Traditional Dishes

Udupi Jul 25: Women's organizations of Udupi came together on Tuesday July 25 to celebrate the traditional culture of Tulunadu 'Aatidonji Dina, Ponjove Koota' here.
Mouth-watering dishes were displayed on the occasion, and women dressed in traditional attires accorded a warm welcome to the guests. Rituals were conducted with usual zeal and devotion.
Speaking on the occasion zilla panchayat president Katapady Shankar Poojary said that though change is inevitable with passage of time, it is responsibility of the people to preserve their culture and tradition. "Elders should take up the task of passing on traditions and cultures to the new generation," he added.
The traditional dishes from Tulunadu included 'Menthe Ganji', 'Gunda', 'Timare Chatni', 'Halasina Gatti', 'Patrode', 'Tujanka Vade', 'Manjolertha Gatti', 'Gujja Iretha Gatti, 'Gendada Adde', ' Girengu Podi', 'Mambla', apart from 'Kashaya' that was served to the guests at the end of the celebration
The dishes were not only tasty but also healthy, with ingredients that are known to protect one from common illnesses in the monsoon.
The celebrations introduced one to the legacy of Tulunadu culture with 'Siri Paddana' after the inauguration.
