Mangalore: Thieves Target Ramalinga Chowdeshwari Temple, Loot Gold, Silver

Mangalore, Jul 24: Thieves broke into Shree Ramalinga Chowdeshwari Temple at Emmekere here in the wee hours of Tuesday July 24 and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5 lac.
The temple is located behind Ramakrishna Math in Mangaladevi. Sources said that the theft took place after the 8.30 pm puja on Monday July 23.
The incident came to light in the morning when temple priest Chandrashekar entered the temple at 5.30 am.
Initial investigations revealed that the thieves stole 5 kg of silver from the entrance dome of Garbagudi. Silver crown, gold chain, nose ornament, silver Trishul and other ornaments of the idol placed in Garbagudi were also stolen.
In all, thieves took away seven kg of silver, two sovereign gold and Rs 20,000 in cash, totalling Rs 5 lac.
A lady at the temple had a vision that the thieves are from Mangalore and are hiding within the city.
A case has been registered at Pandeshwar police station.
