Mangalore, Jul 20: In a case of attempted murder, two persons were stabbed on Friday July 20 at Kulai, allegedly in revenge for the murder of Shivaraj on Thursday July 19 night.
The victims are identified as Kalandar Shakeel (28) and Jamaluddin (25).
At around 5 pm on Friday, a gang is said to have entered Jamaluddin's shop at Kulai and stabbed him and Kalandar.
Jamaluddin was rushed to Padmavati hospital in Suratkal, where the doctors put 21 stitches on his head and advised him to be shifted to a hospital in the city. He was then admitted to Unity hospital where he is in the ICU
While Kalandar is recuperating from injuries in the same hospital, Jamaluddin is said to be critical.
The attempt to murder is said to be an act of revenge for the murder of Shivaraj, who was found dead near the railway track at Jokatte on Friday morning. Two of his friends had been allegedly involved in the murder of rowdy Kabir in 2011, and Shivaraj's murderers had used him to get at them. When he refused to cooperate, they strangled him to death, it is said.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Jamaluddin's brother Aboobakker Siqqique said that a gang had entered his brother's shop and attacked him. The police were doing rounds of the area, and hence were able to save him and Kalandar on time, he said.
Jamaluddin's is the son of Hussainabba and Zakriya, residents of Kulai. Kalandar is his cousin.
Suratkal police who are investigating the case told Daijiworld that there 10-15 people in the gang, out of which six have already been identified.
