Mangalore, Jul 18: The members of CPI (M) on Thursday July 19 staged a protest to express their angst over the poor condition of the Bibi Alabi road and Market Road here.
Addressing the protestors, CPI(M) leader Vasant Acharya said that the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) was not 'Maha Nagara Palike' but 'Maha Naraka Palike'. The protestors also shouted slogans in this line.
"The MCC organizes so many programmes related to dengue and malaria, but nothing has changed in reality," he said.
"After 60 years of Congress rule when BJP came to power in the state we expected positive changes, but they too have failed us," he added.
He further said, "There is a commercial building, Lady Goschen hospital and a police station close by. It is a public place but the MCC has not taken proper care of it. The MCC is collecting Rs 150 from each house but not doing any good work."
"Every child born in Lady Goschen will come into this world looking at dirt and filth all around," he taunted.
He threatened to intensify the protest if immediate action was not taken to repair the road.
DYFI leaders Sunil Kumar Bajal, B K Imtiaz and many others were present.
