Khurshid met me privately: Anna

Ralegan Siddhi, July 18 (IBNS): Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on Wednesday said Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid met him privately near Pune on June 23.

Hazare confirmed the meeting during a press conference in Ralegan Siddhi on Wednesday.

"Salman Khurshid met me privately on June 23 to request me not to take part in the indefinite protest from July 25," said Hazare.

"I have also written to the Prime Minister (Manmohan Singh) on the matter," he said.

Hazare said he wanted to disclose about the meeting at the 'right time'.

The Gandhian said he had received a message from Khurshid urging him to discuss on the Lokpal Bill.

Team Anna will launch an indefinite protest at New Delhi's Jantar Mantar from July 25 against the union government for purportedly failing to act on corruption and failing to enact the anti-corruption Lokpal Bill.

Hazare and yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Tuesday said they will support each other in their fight against corruption.

Ramdev and Hazare slammed the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and said it has not taken enough measures in dealing with corruption and black money.

Ramdev said he will start a nationwide agitation in demand of strong action against corruption from August 9 at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
