Karkala: Wounded Leopard Seeks Refuge in Hotel Godown

Karkala, Jul 16: An injured leopard was found near Someshwar hotel in Hebri on Sunday July 15.
 
Sources said it was the same leopard which was caught in a trap laid for a hog at a village near Hiriadka on July 6 and was then let into Someshwar forest by officials.

It is learnt that officials had let the leopard free without giving it adequate treatment. The leopard had now returned to a hotel near Someshwar to seek help. Villagers noticed the leopard in a hotel godown.
 
Monkeys, tigers, leopards and snakes caught by the forest officials are left near Agumbe Ghat. These animals come in search for food to the nearby human habitats, said locals.
 
People appealed to the forest officials to take necessary precautions in this regard.
 
The injured leopard was then let into a nearby forest by the Hebri forest officials.

    I am with you Roy..despite claiming advances, animal protection and flash mobs for tiger awareness etc..our forest officials and administration doesn't have means to tranquilize the leopard and treat it's wound, observe and release it after recovery..perhaps we should now get help from UN since the animal belongs to western ghats and ability to protect and treat wild animals is beyond our capabilities at the moment.. I am sure many animal lovers out there would do their bit to help..Is there a local world wildlife fund edition around Mangalore?

    As all our forests disappear and are replaced by concrete jungles, and human population soars, we will see such incidents more and more, Animals unfortunately dont know what to do and are left to suffer. It is really sad but there is turning around unless God triggers some big change!

    i was trying to say that sedating the animal and letting it go back into the forest is not the solution as you suggested einstein, it has to be treated as well!lol you really think m suggesting them to treat the animal while he's wide awake? ha, your sense of understanding is even worse Mr Bhoja, anyways i am not here to argue. just hoping that the leopard will live.

    The tranquilizer is a sedative,a action for 1 to 3 hours depends upon the dosage how we use.It is the normal practice to control the wild or wounded animals normally.A treatment within this period sure save this animal to it's life.By the way your knowledge to the said situation looks very poor, the tranqulizer is not for killing and even to catching by a normal practice,it is very dangerous to human .

    Shame on the Forest Department Officials. Why did you join the Forest Service if you had no intention to take care of the Flora and Fauna? People these days have lost faith in God, that is the main reason they do these things (Corruption, bribe, atrocities etc ) as they do not fear about the life after death. My prayers for the wounded animal.

    Nowadays There is nothing left for Wild Animals in the wild. Humans took their share of food & land. Where will they go? Poor animals.So dear forest officials please take actions to keep them safe in the wild by providing them enough space & food, and safe environment for all...thanx

    A wounded animal is always considered dangerous,A Precaution is must while dealing with these kind of wild wounded animals.A tranquilizer is the best way to capture these kind of animals, to a safer place in jungle far away from the village and the villagers itself .

    Looks like a time will come when they(wild animals) will inhabit our 'concrete
    jungle'and we theirs! The 'time cycle' theory you see!In any case we are on an encroaching spree and it's bound to have it's own repercussions!

    Dear Concerned Forest Officials, can you pls treat this Leopard once for all? Our Country even treat Death Penalty awarded Prisoners to keep them healthy till their death. This is just an animal though it is wild by nature.
