Mangalore, Jul 15: A complaint has been filed against a man for allegedly cutting off mobile network cables as a 'revenge' against the Vodafone company.
Following incidents of constant cutting of cable network lines, Shravan Kumar, director, Udbhav Infrastructure, Mangalore (contractor of cable lines operation and maintenance of Vodafone), lodged a complaint against Priyas Bhandary, a resident, near Holy Cross, Panjimogaru.
Bhandary was appointed as the supervisor of cable lines maintenance by Udbhav Infrastructure after he was terminated by Thomas Construction and Aster Teleservices company. However, as he showed high-handedness during his work and due to lack of efficiency, he was asked to quit.
During his term in Udbhav, he rented out two of his cars to the Vodafone Company, but instead of letting the company use it for ferrying employees, he would himself drive around and demand payment of his bills from the company.
When Vodafone refused to pay his bills, Bhandary, in a fit of revenge, cut the company's network wires without realizing that it affected Udbhav Infrastructure in turn.
In addition, he warned Vasuki, manager, Vodafone, Bangalore city branch manager, to deposit Rs 2 lac in his account immediately and cash amount of Rs 50,000 every month. If not, he threatened to cut off the entire Vodafone network here in Mangalore.
However, the manager refused to deposit the money as it is a public limited company
It is learnt that according to the OTDR (optical time domin replecto meter), the cable network lines were cut near Kuloor Bridge, NH 66, in Kulur Junction, near Kadri park of KPT circle, and 11 other places.
The complaint stated that a loss of Rs 2 lac and disturbance to the mobile network was caused.
The complaint is registered in Kavoor police station and ASI Jaganath took up the investigation.
