Kundapur: Golden Moment - Bhandarkars' College Turns 50

Kundapur, Jul 14: The golden jubilee celebrations of Bhandarkars' College of Arts and Science were held at the R N Shetty Hall here on Saturday July 14 at 11.30 am.
The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Dr Ramdas M Pai, chancellor, Manipal University. In his speech Dr Pai appreciated the principal and the staff of Bhandarkars' College and called it one of the premier institutions in the state.
On the occasion, a special logo designed to mark the jubilee year was unveiled by Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University who was introduced by Meenakshi.
Dr Ballal englightened the audience on the importance of imparting education to the girl child in particular, as in turn she would be able to educate a family, while educating a boy would mean passing on the knowledge to only one person. He also congratulated the instituition on achieving the 50-year milestone.
Dr H Shantaram, administrative office, academy of general education, Manipal, presided over the function. Delivering the presidential address, he wished all the students the very best in life and said that they were fortunate to attend such a jubilous celebration.
Trustees Padmakar Nayak, Shantaram Prabhu and Rajendra Tholar attended the function.
Chandrashekar Doma, principal of Bhandarkars' College of Arts and Science and G M Gonda, principal Bhandakars PU College, Kundapur among others were present.
While professor Doma Chandrashekar welcomed the gathering, K Shantaram delivered the vote of thanks.
