Shootout Case: Bannanje Raja Aide, Four Others Arrested in Mysore

Mysore, Jul 14: Police have arrested an aide of underworld don Bannanje Raja in connection with a shootout and theft case that took place here two years ago.
The arrested is Akash alias Vivek Upadhyaya, who is said to admitted his allegiance with Bannanje Raja.
Four others were arrested along with Akash.
Rohan, son of a well-known hotelier was shot dead by five unidentified persons on December 26, 2010 at around 11 pm near St Joseph School while he was returning from work. The culprits fled the spot in a car after looting him of all his valuables and cash.
In this regard, a case was registered at Jayalaxmipuram police station and later the case was handed over to CCB police. Meantime, some incidents were reported in Mangalore too, and police rounded up a few of Bannanje Raja's aides, who were reportedly acting on his orders.
CCB police, with the help of clues from Mangalore cases, succceeded in arresting Akash, who was hiding in Varanasi of Madhya Pradhesh. On inquiry, Akash admitted that he is an associate of Bannanje Raja, said the police.
The police seized a Maruti Omni car and cash from the culprits.
Shashikumar, ACP, Inspector CT Jaya Kumar, Krishnappa and PSI Guruprasad under the leadership of DCP Basavaraj Malagathi and KP Bhimayyar investigated the case.
