Udupi: Unidentified Body at Santhekatte - Police Confirm Murder, Seek Public Help

Udupi, Jul 13: The death of the man, whose body was found abandoned in Santhekatte during a police chase on Tuesday July 10, was due to murder, police have confirmed.
The body was found in a highly decomposed state in Gopalpur ward of Nayanpalli here. The police stumbled upon the body while chasing an accused in the murder of Radhu Karkera of Ammunje.
The body was found in Dinakar Nayak’s field. The medical examination of the body was conducted in district government hospital and KMC forensic lab, Manipal. Their reports reveal that the deceased was hit by a hard object which resulted in his death.
Sources said that the body is of a man between 30-35 years, 5 feet 7 inches in height. The body was clothed in a red shirt, blue-and-white shorts and brown innerwear.
A black holy thread with a pendent was found on his neck, a black waist-thread, a gutka packet and two beedi packets were found in his pocket. A black plastic chappal, three empty whisky bottles and a match box were found a few metres away from the body, police said.
Udupi town police are investigating the case.
The identity of the man could not be established, and the police have appealed to the public to contact them if they have any information pertaining the case or the man.
