The Hague, Jul 12 (IANS): After selling defender Jan Vertonghen to Tottenham Hotspur Dutch club Ajax have agreed to transfer striker Mounir El Hamdaoui to Fiorentina.
On Jan 31 this year, El Hamdaoui was on his way to the Italian side, but the transfer was cancelled at the last moment with both sides blaming each other for the failure. Now both clubs agreed on a transfer fee of around one million euros, reports Xinhua.
El Hamdaoui moved from AZ Alkmaar to Ajax in August 2010. After the arrival of coach Frank de Boer in December 2010 he ended up on the sidelines and only played for the reserves. His contract in Amsterdam was due to expire in 2014.
Ajax Sunday reported a deal with Tottenham for the transfer of Jan Vertonghen for an amount that can go up to 12 million euros, depending on possible bonuses. The 25-year-old Vertonghen personally already agreed with the Spurs.
The Belgian international, who had a contract until 2013, led Ajax to the league title in the past two seasons. He made his debut for Ajax in August 2006. Ajax did not buy a successor for Vertonghen yet and might go for a new central defender in the current squad.
