Lucknow, Jul 6 (IANS): A Border Security Force (BSF) trooper Friday shot dead his father and brother over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Bhagpat district, police said.
Bhagpat is 500 km from here.
The shooting took place Friday afternoon at Saroorpur village, when Praveen got engaged in a verbal spat with his father and other brothers on the division of his ancestral property.
In a fit of rage, Praveen whipped out his revolver and started firing at his father, brother and other relatives. The 62-year-old father, Ishwar, and his son Manoj died on the spot.
"The trooper escaped and is on the run. We are on a lookout for him," said Baghpat Superintendent of Police (SP) Virendra Kumar Shekhar.
The BSF trooper had come home on a month's leave 20 days ago.
