16 Trapped in China Coal Mine


Beijing, Jul 6 (IANS): Sixteen miners in China remained trapped in a flooded coal mine Thursday night, authorities said.

The accident took place at 6 p.m. Wednesday when they were working underground in Qielichong coal mine in Hunan province, Xinhua reported.

Twenty-four others managed to escape. The coal mine management reported the accident to the local government Thursday. Rescue efforts were continuing at 10.30 p.m. Thursday.
