Biggest Leap in Physics: CERN Scientists Find the God of All Particles

Geneva, Jul 4 (IANS): Scientists have finally locked onto Higgs Boson, the 'God Particle', a discovery that crowns the global scientific community's most challenging and comprehensive quest for the subatomic particle rightly regarded as "the key to the cosmic riddle".

Scientists at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research), Geneva, announced the discovery on Wednesday, in the presence of a tearful Peter Higgs, the British physicist after whom the particle is named, and many other scientists. The breakthrough has been described as the biggest leap in physics.

An overwhelmed Higgs, 83, said: "I certainly had no idea it would happen in my lifetime at the beginning, more than 40 years ago. I think it shows amazing dedication by the young people involved with these colossal collaborations to persist in this way, on what is a really a very difficult task. I congratulate them."

What exactly is a Higgs Boson? Simply put, it enables particles in atoms to help invest them with mass, the basic building blocks of the universe, which include everything from the lowliest of micro-organisms, through soil, water, minerals, plants, trees, insects, animals and mountains to the most complex life forms including humans, even entire planets and galaxies.

Take away Higgs Bosons from atoms and the results would be chaotic. Their particles, comprising protons, electrons and neutrons, would zip through space with lightning speed, unable to bind together to form atoms. Then all creation would be unthinkable.

"If this missing piece is not found, we'll have to rewrite physics textbooks," observed Satyaki Bhattacharya, physicist at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata. "But if it is found, there's still lots of work ahead."

Bosons belong to a family of particles named after the Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose, a contemporary of Albert Einstein, his German counterpart, who gave us the Bose-Einstein statistics (B-E statistics), one of the three systems which statistical mechanics, a branch of physics, recognizes. Bosons are characterized by their obedience to B-E statistics. This class of particles includes photons as well as the Higgs boson.

Higgs boson is named after Peter Higgs, the last of the 12 particles postulated by the Standard Model of physics, the theory that describes the basic building blocks of the universe, excluding gravity. Higgs had predicted the particle's existence roughly 40 years ago.

The discovery can been likened to that of the electron, a subatomic particle, the idea first being floated in 1838, but its presence was confirmed only after 60 years.

Central to the discovery is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest and most powerful particle celerator, housed in a massive 27 km circular tunnel, some 175 metres underground near Geneva. It was built by CERN from 1998 to 2008, to detect the presence of Higgs boson, besides addressing some of the most fundamental questions of physics.

The LHC smashes beams of sub-atomic particles such as protons virtually at the speed of light, recreating conditions that existed for a billionth of a second after the Big Bang, heralding the birth of the universe. As the universe cooled, the theory goes, an invisible force known as the Higgs field permeated the cosmos, made up Higgs bosons.

More than 10,000 scientists and engineers from over 100 countries, including a 150 from India, collaborated to erect the superstructure. Besides, Swapan Sen and Sandeep Sarkar of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, developed a prototype of chip named MANAS (Multiplex Analogue Signal Processor), in 1997, which took them 11 years. Some 80,000 MANAS chips were supplied to the LHC.

MANAS's high speed and vast recording capacity, could help speed up personal computers by 10,000 times and boosting internet speed phenomenally.

Western phylosophy and religions always get jitters when it confronts with science and new discoveries happen in the scientific community.

Vedic religion always blended science with religion. Be it shape of earth, Anu-the smallest particle, paramatma being the smallest of the smallest(higgs boson) and biggest of the big(cosmos).

The truth is: Western God vacates where science conquers.

Congrats Swapan Sen and Sandeep Sarkar of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata

    Really Great...Jai Hindustan....

It is important for the readers to note that 'God's Particles' is not in its true sense. The name given is to indicate the substance which lead to the formation of the universe. It does not mean that it in itself is God.

This is a micro invention. God, the creator is much much powerful and no human being can invent God physically.

Scientists have proved that Big Bang lead to the formation of the universe. We all agree to it. Then, who made the Big Bang????????? This is the question. Scientists will say that 'A Super Power' made it. They are right. Others believe that God made it. They too are right.

What emerges from this is that God (Super Power) is existing. Man can find it spiritually only, and not physically or by research.

universe has been created by God Brahma and not by this dust particle(god particle). If we are aggreeng their theorm then the question will come like how this god particle has created?. So this theory is a utter nonsense..

The 'God Particle' is nothing but 'Paramathma' mentioned in our Vedas and the same resides in Anu, Renu, Thruna and Kashta i.e., in every thing in the universe.

The evolution of universe is detailed in Brahma Sutras.

The scintific community in consultation with our schloars should research our Vedas and Brahma Sutras to discover the origin of this universe.

In fact Satyendra Bose from India a discovery of Boson particle was the pioneering discovery in the field of Particle physics who first found a subatomic particle and hence was named after him as Boson .But in field of science westerners try to and have an upperhand and Indians also yield to it and hence British Physicist Higgs overshadowed it to be named as Higgs Boson Particle .Albert Einstein was great enough to get the theory to be named as Bose-Einstein theory eventhough Boson was a student of Einstein because the Discovery was solely by Satyendra Bose .

But my worry is all the 10 Particle physicist who were of much lower ranking than Mr Bose were given Nobel Prize but Bose never got it .Even Govt of India also just gave him second highest award Padma Vibhushan and not Bharat Ratna

Further to my earlier letter, I suggest the Daijiwold readers to watch the following videos on U-Tube:-
    * Zeitgeist addendum - to know how money belonging to all on this planet earth are swindled by big corporations.
    * Zeitgeist Movie - to know more about GOD.
Those who are computer savvy can add to their knowledge from some well researched documentaries. Please believe what you want to or just ignore it as a joke.
    * There are many documentaries available under the title "Zeitgeist".
Watch them all if you have time.
Once again, I that I neither endorse or oppose the documentaries.

    Good day to all,
Centuries back, when humans started to get civilized, they looked at the sun , moon and stars etc. with awe.No one was there to explain this phenomenon. In fact, Sun itself is the basis of many religions in this world (Please watch on U Tube "zeitgeist" after watching this video you can comment on my letter).
This is when they thought of a powerful and mysterious force which they named as GOD who is the creator and handler of all things around them.
In ancient times. GOD can be a stone, a tree or anything which is shaped or looked in a particular way. There would be a priest to worship the GOD - who needed human, animal or vegetable sacrifice from time to time. Every village or a group of wandering tribe would have their own GOD.
Please read James A. Michener's novel "HAWAI". This Pulitzer award winning author has explained the above in details - lots of research involved.
What all of us should remember is that- anything and everything in this universe is made up of atoms - which are bound in different ways to form a particular object.
When any accident or any good thing takes place, we tend to say "it is the will of GOD". I beg to differ on this.
If one had taken enough precautions there would have been a less severe or no accident. The good thing happened since the person concerned worked hard to achieve that.GOD had/has nothing to do with that.
So, why blame the mysterious force GOD when an accident happens or give him/her the credit for your hard work?
I congratulate the team of scientists for cracking the mystery of Higgs Boson.
I am proud to be Indian since Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose, who is considered at par with Albert Einstein was the father of the Hoggs Boson theory. He has put the Indian scientific community at the top of the world - which is dominated by Americans and Europeans. Americans have given shelter to the top brains in this world, including several Indian scientists to do research for them.
Have good day all of you!

    who created the God particle?
that means there is some one WHO created it.HE WHO created it gave Law also.
whos will is that all peopple will be saved and come to the knowledge of TRUTH.?
Now 200 countries people come together. Day will come all people will come TOGETHER to the knowledge of TRUTH
ie GOD. SO MAN CAN NOT TAKE GODS PLACE WITH HIS LITTLE PHYSICAL WISDOM FOR OUR temperol life in this Earth. Our Eternal life is only with the SPIRITUAL WISDOM.
DUST INDEED WE ARE IT IS TO DUST WE HAVE TO GO.BUT DONT DIE DOUBLE DEATH.(Physical and Spritual)
so what ever man do let him give GLORY TO GO.

Congratulations to CERN Scientists for the discovery of God's particles. Surely Mr. Higgs commands much more respect who had postulated about these particles so many years before. And here we see Indian hands also. Mr. Sen and Mr. Sarkar, we salute you for the MANAS chip. We also look forward for the PCs with MANAS chips!!!
