Udupi: Coastal Marine Training Centre to Come up at Shiroor - DGP

Udupi, Jun 29: Karnataka director general of police Lal Rukhama Pachao paid a visit to the district on Friday June 29 to inspect the coast guard and the police force.
Addressing the media, he said that a coastal marine training centre will be set up extending from Shiroor to Ottinene. A 100-acre land for the project has been earmarked, he added.
The training centre will cover nine states and three union territories. Coast guard personnel will be trained in the centre, he said.
Moreover, a jetties will be constructed at Malpe and Tadadi (Uttara Kannada district), and the project has been finalized, he said.
Twelve interceptor boats will be introduced for which the training will be managed by the centre and conducted in Mumbai.
In addition, four new coast guard police stations - at Hejamady, Honnavar, Gangolli and Belekeri - will be set up and work on the same is going on. As many 220 police personnel will be chosen for the same, he said. The four stations will function from temporary rented buildings till their own buildings are ready.
Harshavardhanraj of state internal security, IG Bhaskar Rao, IGP (western range) Pratap Reddy, Udupi SP Dr Borelingaiah, ASP M V Venkateshappa and others were present.
