Dubai, Jun 28 (Emirates 24 x 7) : In a shocking and tragic incident a nine-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool in a building in Dubai on Tuesday night
Bony Joseph Junior was celebrating his friend's birthday party in Karama area of Dubai when the incident occured.
Many buildings in Dubai do not have full time lifeguards manning swimming pools despite a strict order from the Dubai Municipality making it mandatory.
In several buildings watchmen themselves double up as lifeguards.
The youngster is a student of Our Own English High School, Al Warqa 3. The parents from Ernakulam in Kerala, India have been living in Dubai for a while.
The School officials confirmed the incident and said the boy was a student of Grade Four.
“The students in his class are all in a shock. We just got to know the incident. We will be contacting the parents after a while,” said a school staff.
The friend whose birthday he was celebrating however was not from the same school.
