Doha, Jun 23: Sunil D’Silva was elected as the new president of Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC), Qatar during the 20th Annual General Meeting of MCC held on Friday June 22, 2012 at the ICC premises. Sunil D’Silva was the vice-president so far and was unanimously elected as the president for the next two years.
The programme began with a prayer led by Daphney Lobo. Outgoing president Richard D’Souza welcomed the gathering. General Secretary Riana Pinto presented a detailed report on Club’s activities while treasurer Prashanth D’Silva put forward details of the audited financial report. Richard D’Souza then presented certain amendments to the MCC constitution before the gathering which were approved on the floor by the members. The key features of the amendment were to have 6 additional positions in the executive committee and the advisory board to consist of 10 advisors with 2 permanent positions reserved for the women.
This was followed with the election of the new president and executive committee. The elections were officiated by Henry D’Souza. The new executive committee is as follows:

Outgoing President Richard D’souza handed over a copy of the constitution to the new president Sunil D’Silva. New president delivered his acceptance speech and thanked all for their support and encouragement. He also put forward two suggestions on the occasion. The first one is regarding launching of membership drive while the second suggestion was regarding starting of the hospital ministry. Both these suggestions were welcomed by the members who assured their help and full support towards the implementation of the same.
Remy D’Souza compered the programme. During the recently-held SOAD– 3 International finals, Ronald Colaco, the patron of the event had promised INR 1,00,000/- each to all the 6 finalists. Accordingly Qatar finalists Sana Britto and Naveen Pinto received their money from Jerald D’Mello. The evening came to end with light refreshments.
