Bangalore, Jun 20: Thefts and robberies have become an everyday occurence everywhere in the state, but there's no beating Bangalore. The city has truly become the 'capital' of such criminal activities, with Bangalore police recently coming across cases of even young boys and girls choosing theft as their 'career' paths in a bid to afford a posh life.
In another such shocker of an incident, an entire family - mother, father, their two sons and two friends - has been caught running a theft racket for the past 18 months. On Monday June 18, Bangalore police arrested all the six, and recovered one kg of gold and a whopping Rs 40 lac in cash!
Shockingly enough, the 'family business' is led by a 38-year-old woman and mother of two sons Najjunisa. Her husband Anwar (49), sons Imran (24), Irfan (22) are 'operation directors' of the thefts. Two of their friends - Imran Adi (22) and Mudhabir (22) are also a part of it. Intestingly, Imran and Mudhabir are wanted in many other cases, and warrants have been issued against them more than 15 times!
The entire team was once caught for a petty theft back in 2010 at D J Halli. After serving the prison sentence they shifted their base to Kaggalipura.
Mother Najjunisa guides her sons, husband and other two boys to steal chains from women who go on morning walk, or near shopping centres and other crowded places.
With this kind of easy money, the family owns two cars, and a site at Kaggalipura where Rs 70-lac house is under construction! What a booming family business!
The family had chosen Bangalore's K R Puram, Banasawadi, and surrounding places to run their 'business'. So far, this family has been involved in more than 40 cases of theft. The stolen gold ornaments were sold in Kolar and Tamil Nadu.
Subramanyapura police had spent sleepless nights when theft cases increased in their vicinity of late. First they caught Imran Adi and Mudhabir, but Mudhabir managed to escape from police. But Imran confessed to the crime, and through a bike recovered from him (KA 05 8585), the police team managed to reach this 'chor' family.
However, the family had fled from the state, and had managed to reach Nagpur. On Tuesday, two teams of Subramanayapura police led by inspector Balegowda caught the accused in Nagpur and brought them to the city.
Needless to add, the incident of such a family business has shocked all and sundry, including south zone DCP Sonia Narang.
