Kolkata, June 19 (IBNS) Red Ribbon Express, an HIV/AIDS awareness campaign train by the Indian Railways, will arrive West Bengal on July 16.
National AIDS Control Organisations (NACO) Additional Secretary Aradhana Jauhri on Tuesday categorically stated that maximum mobilisation among youth will be the success of Red Ribbon Express Phase-III in West Bengal.
The Red Ribbon Express is arriving in West Bengal on July 16 at Kharagpur Railway Station.
The train will cover 11 stations in West Bengal and the last station will be Siliguri from August 5-6.
The meeting of a State-level Organising Committee held on Tuesday at Swastha Bhawan, Salt Lake to discuss different aspects like mobilisation, logistics, hosting and allocations of responsibilities to different departments.
Transmission of HIV/AIDS, prevention, misconception and condom encouragement will be the focus of publicity during pre-publicity of the arrival of the train. Special training will be given to the extra volunteers for Truckers and Sex Workers because migration is emerging as the main cause for the rise in HIV infection.
Red Ribbon Express is a train project implemented by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the objective of increasing awareness and improving access to services for HIV/AIDS and communicable diseases including TB, Malaria to increase access to reproductive and child health primarily in the rural areas of the country.
The specially designed the train consists of four exhibition coaches will travel across 23 states and will cover 162 halt stations.
