Boat with Egyptian Migrants Held in Italy

Rome, Jun 13 (IANS/AKI): An Egyptian fishing vessel trafficking 60 migrants has been intercepted by Italian police off the southern coast of Sicily.

The fishing boat was taken to the port of Pozzallo in Ragusa province. Fifteen minors were among the passengers.

Italy is a common destination for boats transporting migrants from North Africa.

Thousands of migrants reached Italy by boat from North Africa amid last year's uprisings in much of the Arab world.
