Mangalore, Jun 12: Mystery surrounds the death of Sachin Kotekar (32) a software engineer whose dead body was found at Kumble in Kasargod, just a day before he was to leave for Amercia to rejoin his duties after a month’s vacation.
Sachin who hails from Padil was working as a software engineer for an American company and had come to his native just a month ago. He was to leave for America via Bangalore on Sunday June 10. But destiny willed otherwise and his body was found on Mogral Koppala seashore in Kasargod on Sunday morning. His death has come as a shocker to his family who are unable to come to terms with his sudden death and believe some foul play behind his death. The post mortem report given by Periyaram Medical College says Sachin died due to drowning. The report does not give any other details pertaining to his death.
With the family of Sachin ruling out the possibility of his committing suicide and the mysterious way his body was found on the seashore has raised many doubts and suspicions and there are enough indications to suggest that it might be a murder and not an act of suicide.
The fact that Sachin was enthusiastic and eager to go back to US is understood from the fact that he along with his wife Sushma had come to Mangalore on Saturday and had shopped in a mall to carry some things to the US. His family firmly believes that if Sachin ever toyed with the idea of committing suicide he would not have taken the trouble of going all the way to Mangalore for shopping specifically to buy things to take with him to US.
After shopping the couple had gone back to Kumble, the native place of his wife. It has now come to know that at around 9.30 pm Sachin went out with his car to take print out of his air ticket, never to return. Anxious family members who waited for him till late night got panicked when his mobile was found switched off and began to search for him. To their dismay on Sunday morning they found his car parked on shore of Koyipadi and the body of Sachin was traced on the shores about half a km from where his car was parked. Kumble police registered a case and body was sent for post mortem to Periyaram Medical College.
The family of Sachin is unable to come to terms with this unexpected development and is grappling to accept that Sachin is no more with them. They cannot accept the fact that Sachin who had gone out to get a print out of his air tickets has returned dead sending the entire family in disbelief and distress. Though the police say it might be a case of suicide they don’t rule out other possibilities behind the death of Sachin. Kumble Police have said that they would also try to find out the reasons which might have prompted Sachin to take the extreme step of committing suicide. He was in good terms with his wife and parents and they have no room to believe that Sachin would take such a cowardly act of committing suicide. No formal complaint has been filed by either of the families.
Sachin who hails from Padil, is one of the two children of Devadas Kotekar and Sulochana. He was married to Sushma from Kumble and the couple worked in the US for the last two years. They had come on a holiday to their native a month back and were all set to go back to the US on Monday, but for the cruel blow of his death.
It is now believed that Kumble police are now looking for an unknown car that is believed to have followed Sachin when he ventured out on his car to take a print out. Following some information that a car had followed Sachin on that fateful night police are now trying to get a clue as to who might be the people who followed him and what might have been their motive to kill Sachin. It is said that Sachin was soft-spoken and never hurt other or picked quarrels with anyone.
There are many unanswered questions that call for an answer. Whether Sachin committed suicide by jumping into the sea or whether someone pushed him into the sea, who might be the people who followed him in the car, what might be the motive for his murder, is it a murder for gain or whether there is a third angle – these are some of the questions that need to be answered. The police are sure to come out with details and solve the mystery shrouded behind Sachin’s death. Though the mystery might be solved it has to be accepted that a young and skilled soul was lost forever at the peak of his life.
