Raipur, Jun 7 (IANS): Ahead of assembly elections next year, the Congress in Chhattisgarh is desperate to woo the tribal community.
Congress leaders say the gulf between them and the tribals has kept their party out of power in the state for about a decade.
They say they have decided to highlight corruption by ministers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and also expose excesses committed on the tribal population.
Warned by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi to close ranks, the Chhattisgarh Congress has decided to launch a training camp for its workers at Jagdalpur on June 30.
Jagdalpur lies at the heart of the state's vast tribal belt.
State Congress president Nand Kumar Patel told IANS: "We have enough material and evidence to expose the misdeeds of the BJP government."
