Patna, Jun 6 (IANS): The Bihar government has recommended a CBI probe into the murder of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh 'Mukhiya', the police chief said Wednesday.
Bihar police chief Abhyanand told reporters here that the government had made the recommendation that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) should take over the case.
A five-member special investigation team (SIT) of Bihar Police is probing the June 1 killing that sparked widespread violence in the state.
Brahmeshwar Singh was killed by gunmen in Ara town, about 60 km from here, while on a morning walk. He set up in 1994 the Ranvir Sena, an upper caste private militia blamed for many killings.
