Mangalore: Three from Kerala Killed in Accident at Mulky

Mangalore, Jun 4: Three persons from Kerala were killed in a tragic accident at Mulky that occured in the wee hours of Monday June 4.

The deceased have been identified as Ayesha, Ahmed and Yusuf. Another person who was with them was critically injured and admitted to Srinivas hospital.

The accident took place at around 2.25 am when the Swift Dzire car they were travelling in collided with a truck.

They were going to Manipal hospital from Thalassery in Kerala, sources said.

Mulky police have registered a case.

    The NH 17-66 scares me. Whenever I visit native place I have made it a point to drive below 60 on NH 17-66. Even then you may encounter a motorist, three wheeler or even a car all of a sudden on the wrong side right in front of you in a blind corner. These people most probably want to save fuel and energy by not taking a longer U turn because of the divider. Visibility is an even more worrisome factor on some stretches of this treacherous highway at night due to insufficient street lighting and many blind factors. All in all I fail to understand why all successive governments do not want to tame our reckless driving. Why cant our license issuing standards and laws match even that of gulf countries. Does it mean that life is not precious here.

    Recently police arrested people protesting in MaNGALORE for bad roads. Look at these accidents now the time to lock up those police men and govt officials for not performing the job in taking care of these people who die on roads. who is responsible for bad roads.

    1. Try to avoid accidents from your end as much you can while you are driving.If some one is coming towards you try to escape.
    2. Avoid driving at night as much as possible,light reflections on the interior & exterior mirrors make you blind.
    3.Driving at early hours of morning is very dangerous,there is every possibility you to fall sleep.
    4.Avoid over speeding.Losing control on high speed is easy.
    5.While I was driving at the military base I so one quote it says "DRIVE SAFELY YOUR FAMILY IS WAITING." Isn't it true ?

    Guys ... please wear seat belts .. Jan when i was in India for vacation ,i took a Cab... immediately as i sat in the cab, i put on the seat belt .. and the cab driver started laughing (he wasnt wearing it)... n asked me are u staying abroad ??????? ???? thats the attitude .. accidents will happen.. but v can save ourselves with this small life saving feature....

    Do you know? 5 days before, I was travelling from Udupi to Mangalore at 2AM (Night) at 60KMPH speed on my bike with my friend and suddenly the bike skids and we fell to road near Padubidri-Mulki (I don't remember the exact place). The reason for the skid is, one big crain spilled all its oil to road (approx 1 kilometers). Thank God, nothing happened anything serious to us. Many cars and other vehicles were also slipping over the spilled oil, I made a complaint to the police (Mulky Night Guards) and asked them to take necessary actions (prevention) and went to Suratkal hospital for first-aid. I hope nothing happened that night, I was so worried about other bike riders..

    Yesterday I travelled in this road. All are driving very rashly in this road. I was lucky to survive 3 to 4 times yesterday. In night also they just put the headlight in high beam. Even if we signal them also they just keep on come with high beam. This is the main reason for accident in the night.

    And many times I saw these trucks coming in opposite direction of Kottara flyover. Parking the tankers and trucks on road without any signal. Once i stopped my car and asked a truck driver to put some signal. beacuse i was suppose to collied with that parked truck. iI noticed it in correct time. Only god can save my country and country fellows

    I totally agree with Rudolph Rodriguez and Ted.
    When I was on leave, I was travailing to Mulki and a Tipper truck hit my car on the right side.
    Luckily, I escaped with minor injuries. Otherwise, it could have been RIP for me.
    The bus and tipper drivers drive their vehicles very rashly.
    I have decided that henceforth I will travel by the Volvo bus.
    May the souls of the departed RIP.
    Let the almighty GOD give courage to their families to overcome this tragedy.

    The main reason is rash driving... people overtake even when they can see vehicles coming from the opp side. The moment this is under control a considerable number of accidents will reduce.... the bus drivers do not care for any vehicles... I myself have been in an accident some years back, when I slowed down for a bus overtaking from the wrong side n a car smashed my car from the back, luckily there was only damage to the car n not the people....

    Very tragic and sad incident. May the deceased's souls RIP and may the injured recover soon!! The stretch between Kundapur to Mangalore is literally a death trap. Families should as far as possible avoid travelling by small cars, rather travel by KSRTC Volvo. The chances of dying in a road accident are extremely high. Why risk? Past record just this year depicts the sad story!!

    Very sad to sacrifice prcious every day, with no reason. It is very important to divide the roads for heavy vehicles and small vehicles and two wheelers as much as possible. Now the situation we have is the like the ants fall under elephant’s legs and die. In the meantime, overtaking must be strictly restricted or banned in certain areas of danger.

    It is extremely dangerous to travel in small cars or motor bikes during night time since we do not have proper lighting on the road and heavy vehicles comes with high beam without caring for light vehicles at all.

    During rainy season situation goes bad to worse either. But unfortunately outside people who passing through NH66 knows nothing about situation and tragedy happens like this. May Allah rest their soul in peace forever and give strength to their beloved, friends & relatives to bear the loss of three valuable lives.

    My sincere request to all our Daiji World Leaders to pass on the message that “be extremely care full when you drive between Mangalore and Udupi through this NH66 road especially during night time or if possible better to avoid night travel too”.

    Looking at the pictures, I get a feeling that wearing seat-belts could have saved a couple of lives atleast.
    The back portion of the car did not suffer damage. Why pay for expensive car if you don't make use of the safety features?

    When Indians go abroad, they always complain about the 101 rules to be followed in a developed country, those rules are there for a reason.

    Mangalore- Kundapur Highway is like a Death Trap. Visit your near and dear ones before travelling on this route, u never know if they will ever get to see to again.
