Pakistan Tests Nuclear-capable Hatf-VIII Missile

Islamabad, May 31 (IANS): Pakistan Thursday test-fired its nuclear-capable cruise missile Hatf-VIII, the army said.

"Pakistan today conducted a successful flight test of the indigenously developed Air Launched Cruise Missile, Hatf-VIII (Ra'ad)," the army said in a statement.

Hatf-VIII has a range of about 350 km and can deliver nuclear and conventional warheads with pin-point accuracy, Xinhua reported.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have congratulated the experts on the successful tests of Hatf-VIII.

It was Pakistan's second missile test this week.

On Tuesday, Pakistan successfully test-fired its surface-to-surface Hatf IX missile. It has a range of 60 km and can carry nuclear warheads.
