Mumbai, May 21: Nine-year-old Ayana V Raman, child prodigy of ‘The Journey of Dance to Houses’ fame, began her metro tour of a week by staging her maiden show at Pejavar Mutt auditorium, Prabhat Colony, Santa Cruz (East), on Sunday May 20. It was organized by metro-based Kalajagattu and Sanatana Vedike.
Karnataka Bank deputy general manager Subaschandra Puranik inaugurated the Ayana’s week-long programme on Sunday.
After releasing the handbills and schedule of programmes, Puranik said that child prodigies need to be encouraged as Indian culture gets its due prominence and budding talent will emerge among children in the near future.
The metro’s renowned social activist and religious leader Dr M Sitaram Alva, Shastavu Bhootanateshwar temple–Yedapadavu managing trustee’s wife Harinakshi Vijayanath Shetty, Pejavar Mutt Mumbai branch chief manager Vidwan Renjala Ramdas Upadhyaya, Ramakunja Prakash Acharya, and Sanatana Vedike secretary Balakrishna Hegde Bellampalli were present on the dias.
Ayana enthralled the audience with her mesmerizing show of Indian culture on the occasion.
The show will be held across the metro till Saturday May 26. Ayana’s parents Mangalore-based Ranga Bharati director, artiste, and journalist K V Raman and lecturer wife Mookamabika urged the people to attend her shows in large numbers in order to encourage the little girl’s inherent talent.
Kalajagattu Mumbai founder president Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. K V Raman delivered the introductory address. Ashok Pakkala compered the programme. Sanatana Vedike Mumbai president Surendra Kumar Hegde proposed vote of thanks.
