New Delhi, May 18 (IANS): The Rajya Sabha lost its question hour Friday to protests over the alleged involvement of Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal in a land grab case.
The upper house was disrupted as BJP MPs demanded the suspension of question hour to discuss the issue.
As soon as the house met, BJP MP Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi demanded suspension of question hour to discuss the issue. When Chairman Hamid Ansari did not allow this, BJP members were on their feet alleging that the central government wanted to avoid the issue.
Amid the din, the chairman first adjourned the house for 15 minutes, and then till noon.
The BJP has alleged a land scam worth Rs.1,000 crore and accused the Rajasthan's Ashok Gehlot government of "gifting" developed land in Jaipur to a few Congress leaders, in which Beniwal is said to be involved.
