New Delhi, May 17 (IANS): A class 10 student who was stabbed with a paper cutter by his classmate at a school in central Delhi is stable and will be discharged Thursday, a doctor treating him said. The accused student was enraged over a photo uploaded on Facebook.
"The class 10 student had multiple cuts in the left arm. A surgery was performed last night... he is better now and will be discharged today (Thursday). But it will take two months for the wounds to heal," Mahesh Mangal, plastic surgeon at the Ganga Ram Hospital here, told IANS.
According to a police officer, there was a scuffle between two boys over a picture posted on Facebook in which the accused was shown sitting with a girl classmate with a child in her lap. The picture was allegedly cropped by the victim from a group picture that was clicked during a house party a month ago.
"In a statement to police, the accused child said he was angry that a cropped photograph was posted on Facebook with a fellow girl student. Following this, some funny comments were posted on the picture by other friends and he was constantly bullied by his friends, so he got angry and stabbed the victim in his arm," a senior police officer said.
"A case under section 324 of IPC, which relates to voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, has been registered. We have also made a daily diary entry about the attack, a procedure which is done if a juvenile has committed the crime. The case has already been handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) for further investigation," the officer said.
