Fighting over Facebook Post, Class X Boy Stabs Schoolmate

New Delhi, May 17 (TOI)  A picture posted on Facebook led to such bitterness among two Class X students of a well-known private school in central Delhi that one of them stabbed the other with a paper cutter in school on Wednesday morning.

The victim suffered six stab wounds, with the cutter slashing through his veins. He was rushed to the Ganga Ram Hospital in Rajender Nagar where an operation was conducted to stop the bleeding. The boy is now reported to be stable.

On Sunday, the attacker had warned the victim through a text message that he would be attacked in school. Not taking the threat seriously, the victim deleted the message after sharing it with friends and did not inform his parents or the school authorities about it, police said.

Friends and family members of the victim said the two boys, both 15 years old, turned bitter rivals after they attended a party some time ago. "Someone clicked a group photo at the party. The accused allegedly circulated a cropped photo of the victim with another student which was objected to by the victim. This led to tension between the two,'' said a family relative.

The attack took place around 7.25am near the school staircase. "The boys studied in different sections of Class X. For the past few days, there was some animosity between the two," said the school principal when contacted on phone.

"The school starts at 7.30am. These two boys arrived at the staircase and started fighting. One of them attacked the other with a sharp object, leaving gashes on his left hand. We have a tie-up with Ganga Ram Hospital and the injured student was taken there. Since it was a medico-legal case, the hospital authorities asked us to join the investigations,'' the principal said.

The principal said the school's prime concern was to ensure the quick recovery of the victim. "We can then decide on some disciplinary action," he added.

According to the victim's mother, the teenager had earlier complained of being bullied by the accused. "We got a call in the morning that we should come to the school. Twenty minutes later, we were told that my son was being taken to hospital as he had suffered injuries,'' she said.

She said she became aware of the alleged SMS only on Wednesday. "He had deleted the SMS threatening him of an impeding attack by the same boy,'' the mother claimed. The victim's father is a cloth merchant. Both boys live in west Delhi.

The accused's mother said her son was "repentant" over his actions. "He has told me that he suddenly lost his cool when he heard bad words spoken about one of his sisters. However, we have told him his actions cannot be justified. He is at present not feeling well and has been advised rest,'' she said.

Additional CP (central) Devesh Srivastav said a DD entry had been made about the attack at Rajender Nagar police station. Sources said the child will be asked to be present before the Juvenile Justice Board.

A Ganga Ram Hospital spokesperson said the boy was recovering well. "We found he had suffered six sharp wounds. But no major injury was noticed.''

Everything has got its own advantages and disadvantages including lifesaving medicines. Small incidence has happened somewhere and people get holy books into picture. I live in an Islamic country and my daughter is not asked to learn Quran. All religious books speak about peace. Jesus has told us love others as you love yourself and respect your parents. If these are followed then there will be peace. Good things are written everywhere but implementing in our lives is difficult. If people are very very close to God then devil starts his work on that person. Hence request you not to bring religion and politics in a petty incident like this.

    @ C K DAYANANDA, MANGALURU.
The indian kings were greedy and selfish and That was the reason everyone else invaded us and the British ruled us for years. Even now, you will find Kannadigas, Marathi Manus, Mallus but no Indians in India. Western countries have not spoiled us, it's our greed and shefishness which is bad.

    Dear C K DAYANANDA, MANGALURU ,
All your other points noted , but you got 1 thing wrong i.e "India is zero if you take away spirituality from Indians" , india is already zero because of our religious bitterness and political conflicts , political conflicts again are caused coz on communal differences . my take on this subject is , its these spiritual and our religious beliefs thats are hindering the development of the country , ..rest all good , God bless you ..

I can answer any of such comments and but I do not have sufficient time.

Any how... As per history Tughalak was a mad king and Aurangzeb was fanatic.

In the present text books, they are depicted as noble kings.

Rasleela is not what you understand. It was the malicious campaign of missioneries to propagate their religion in India.

You have to read Mahabharatha and Srimadbhagavatha or articles by vaishnavite saints to understand the same.

These subjects are not religious, but spiritual.

These look funny for a person who is not spiritual.

India is a spiritual land from time immemorial.

Our civilisation has withstood the onslaught from foreigners because of our great spiritual kings and sages. This should be taught to children to make them good citizens.

India is zero if you take away spirituality from Indians.

We have to make our children spiritual to bring back the past glory to India.

Please join us to make our India strong.

Very funny. Tughlaq and Aurangazeb in the text books is ok..as they are a part of history of our nation. Rama and Krishna in the text books would not be apt and they are better off in religious texts. You do not want children doing 'raasleela' in school!

This is the result of our present education wherein Tughlak and Aurangzeb have replaced Sri Rama and Sri Krishna in our text books.

Hymns from Vedas are adopted for morning prayers in many European schools.

Here, the same is objected by the so called progressive thinkers.

The history of Mughals has replaced our Vedas and Bhagavadgita.

Swamy Vivekananda has warned us, if Indian Spiritualism is neglected, then in a period of three generations India would be in deed trouble.

We neglected his words. We are in the third generation. We are in deep trouble now.

Foundation of India is its Spiritualism. We shall take all necessary steps to protect and imbibe it so that we can pass on the same to our future generation for a bright future.

That really looks funny to me. Facebook, google , twitter can be great place if you have willingness to learn. I have learned lot of technology, photography related topics via google and twitter. I am not sure about FB since I only look at it once in a month and only for couple of minutes. Personally I feel people use FB for show off purpose rather than stay connected.

Put the parents of this student in jail for few days then he can understand and feel the pain that his parents suffered because of him only. Face book, Twitter, etc are social sites to interact with people, friends or relatives but no to spread hatred amount human beings. Which way our children proceeding? Only God knows what is hidden in our future generation

Such incidents day-to-day happening in western countries. Students regularly carrying weapons to schools. No doubt one or other day it's to enter into India.

We are giving our best 'sanskar' to other's and borrowing bad culture inducing to our society.
