Strauss-Kahn Files Countercharge against Hotel Maid

New York, May 16 (IANS): Former International Monetary Fund (IMF) head Dominique Strauss-Kahn is filing a civil lawsuit against the former hotel maid who accused him of sexually assaulting her in a hotel in New York City, seeking at least $1 million in damage.

In the lawsuit filed Monday in New York State Supreme Court in Bronx, Strauss-Kahn, 63, denied all wrongdoing and accused Guinean-born Nafissatou Diallo of "knowingly and intentionally making a false report to law enforcement authorities".

DSK's countercharge Monday was filed two weeks after Bronx Supreme Court Justice Douglas McKeon rejected Strauss-Kahn's motion to drop Diallo's lawsuit on the grounds he had diplomatic immunity at the time of the incident, reported Xinhua.

"Soon after she entered the room, Ms. Diallo and Mr. Strauss-Kahn engaged in mutually consensual acts," DSK alleged in the counterclaim. "No violence, force or coercion attended their sexual encounter, and Ms. Diallo suffered no injuries whatsoever."

The former IMF chief was charged last year with attempted rape and other crimes after the May 14, 2011 encounter with Diallo, but the criminal case was dropped after prosecutors lost faith in her credibility. The allegation led Strauss-Kahn to resign from his post at the IMF and was widely seen as having ruined his chance of becoming the socialist presidential candidate back in France.
