Mexico City, May 14 (IANS/RIA Novosti): Forty-nine dismembered bodies packed in plastic bags were found on a highway near Monterrey in northern Mexico, officials said.
Prosecutors in Nuevo Leon state said the bodies were identified as that of 43 males and six females.
Military officials and representatives of the local and central government arrived at the site and examined the scene and the bodies.
In another incident, 15 bodies hidden in two cars were discovered in Jalisco state.
In 2006, Mexican authorities declared a war on organised crime in the country. Since then, about 47,500 people have died in feuds between drug cartels and in clashes with police, according to official statistics.
