Apex Court Grants Bail to Siddharth Behura


New Delhi, May 9 (IANS): The Supreme Court Wednesday granted bail to former telecom secretary Siddharth Behura who is currently in judicial custody for his alleged involvement in the 2G scam.

An apex court bench, headed by Justice G.S. Singhvi, also set aside the Delhi High Court order taking suo moto cognizance of newspaper reports and cancelled the bail of R.K. Chandolia granted by the court of the special judge trying 2G cases.

The high court order could not be acted upon as Chandolia was released before the order could be made effective.

The court said that Behura will be released on furnishing a personal bond of Rs.5 lakh coupled with a security of a similar amount.
