China, Thailand to Hold Joint Military Training


Beijing, May 9 (IANS): Marine forces of China and Thailand will hold a 21-day joint military training in China's Guangdong province, the Ministry of National Defence sources said.

According to the ministry's information office, the training codenamed -- Blue Commando-2012 -- to be held between May 9 and 29 will be conducted in the cities of Zhanjiang and Shanwei following an agreement reached by the two countries' navies, Xinhua reported Tuesday.

The training, which will feature anti-terrorism and increase mutual understanding of the two forces, will be second of its kind to be held between the two navies' marine forces since 2010.
