Hyderabad, May 3 (IANS): E.S.L. Narasimhan Thursday was sworn-in as the governor of Andhra Pradesh for a second consecutive term.
He has been given a five-year extension by President Pratibha Patil.
High Court Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur administered him the oath of office during a ceremony at Raj Bhavan, the governor's official residence.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, his cabinet colleagues, several members of Parliament and state assembly and top officials were also present.
Talking to reporters, Narasimhan said said the fruits of development should reach people living in far away rural areas.
The 67-year-old former police officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre retired as director of the Intelligence Bureau in 2006 and was appointed the governor of Chhattisgarh in 2007 and of Andhra Pradesh in 2009.
