Mumbai, May 1: Under the aegis of Basaveshwar Philosophical and Cultural Society ® and Karnataka Sangh, ‘Basava Jayanti’ was celebrated at Dr M Vishveshwarayya Memorial Auditorium of Karnataka Sangh, Matunga (West), on Sunday April 29.
Swami Mahanta of Mudgal Kalyan Ashram, Sindhnur, Gadag of Karnataka, inaugurated the celebrations on Sunday evening.
Swami Mahanta, in his message to the gathering, said that the ideologies of Basaveshwar are indeed relevant even in modern times. “He propagated equality among people of different faiths, religions, castes, and creeds. Peace in world will reign by the universal brotherhood, peaceful co-existence, and emphasis on human values,” said Swami Mahanta.
Srikant R Patak presided over the programme.
Basaveshwar Philosophical and Cultural Society president Vidhya, honorary secretary Girish Sarwad, treasurer B G Biradar, S M Koloor, S K Metre, Karnataka Sangh former president Manohar M Kori and others were present on the occasion.
Sharane Vidhya welcomed the gathering. Santosh Halagabali introduced the guests. R B Goudar compered the programme while Shivanand Amarket proposed the vote of thanks.
Girish Sarvad and group performed devotional music after the stage programme.
