Haryana Seeks Rs 3,000 Crore from Centre

Chandigarh, Apr 22 (IANS): Haryana has sought Rs.3,000 crore from the central government to compensate for the loss of revenue due to the reduction of central sales tax (CST) rates last fiscal.

Haryana Excise and Taxation Minister Kiran Chaudhary said that the compensation would help the state to overcome financial loss till the CST was replaced by the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

"I am very sure that Haryana would soon get its due. Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has also written to the union finance minister on the issue of compensation," Chaudhary said.

Calling the GST a big tax reform for the country, the minister added that the union finance ministry has fixed a meeting in early May to discuss the issue.
