Vandal Caught Spraypainting Russian Cathedral


Moscow, Apr 18 (IANS/RIA Novosti): A vandal has been caught spraypainting the walls of a cathedral in Russia's far eastern city of Khabarovsk, police said.

The man was caught by taxi drivers Tuesday night.

The drivers saw a man in long dark clothes wandering around the Dormition of Our Lady Cathedral. One of the drivers understood that the stranger was spraypainting the cathedral's walls, a police press release said.

The driver called police and rushed up to the vandal together with a colleague. The man was unable to escape.

The detainee failed to name the reasons behind his deed. If convicted, the man could be jailed for three years.
