Mumbai, Apr 16: “Art is glorified for the new generation of youth to sustain. It also forms part of life. Art sustains the culture and also mother tongue Konkani,” said Albert W D’Souza, chairman, St John College of Engineering and Technology, Model Co-operative Bank.
He was the chief guest speaking at the eighth annual day celebration of Kalakiran Konkani Association held at Bhuriben Golwala auditorium, Ghatkopar (West), on Saturday April 15.
Jean Moses Gomes, Christian Chaamber of Commerce and Industry president Henry Lobo, and legal committee convener lawyer Pius Vaz were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Renowned social activist Walter D’Souza Jerimeri, entrepreneurs along with Walter Buthello and Harry Rebello Chembur, felicitated national award winning Konkani poet J B Moraes and Henry D’Paula, editor of ‘Kutam’ Konkani weekly during the programme.
Kalakiran Konkani Association president John Oswald Cordeira welcomed the gathering. Secretary Lawrence D’Souza Kamani compered the programme.
Konkani play ‘Moga Katir’ directed by Lawrence D’Souza Kamani and sponsored by T 3 Developers Ltd was staged by artistes of Kalakiran as part of the entertainment programme.
Francis Olivera Padukone, Florine Mathias Mira Road, Gregory Sequeira, Edwyn Banz Sastan, George A Sequeira, Sunil Fernandes Sakinaka, Richard Crasta Loretto, and Roshan Misquith are cast in the play.
