Dharmasala, Apr 14 (IANS): Former India captain Mohammed Azharuddin Friday said skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni lacks "a bit of intelligence" when it comes to leading the team in Test cricket.
Azharuddin also blamed lack of confidence in the Indian team for poor performances in the Test series against England and Australia.
"He is a good captain in ODIs and Twenty20s but in Test cricket, he lacks a bit of intelligence. I personally believe that there should be three different captains for the three formats," Azharuddin told IANS in an interview here Friday.
Azharuddin, now a Congress MP, was here to lead the Indian Parliamentarians in a friendly cricket match against British Parliamentarians at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Ground.
Azharuddin, who scored a century in 46 balls, said the stadium was one of the best in the world.
"It's one of the best grounds in the world. If IPL (Indian Premier League) matches can be held, why not Test matches," he said.
Azharuddin favoured more such events where the parliamentarians, without much expertise, played a friendly march in cordial atmosphere.
"Be it cricket or any game, they play an important role in bringing countries together," he said.
