Kundapur, Apr 12: A woman, who visited her husband’s home at Halsur in Ulloor village in the taluk recently along with her child, was beaten black and blue by her husband, his second wife, and other family members. The victim, Myna, has got herself admitted into the government hospital here for treatment.
Myna hails from Mysore. She has a male baby from her first marriage. Her husband had abandoned her after their relationship turned sour. Reportedly, she came in contact with Chandra Poojary from Vakwady village through one of her friends. Myna claims that Chandra Poojary fell in love with her and married her at Dharmasthala five years back.
She says she had stayed with her second husband, Chandra, in a rented house in Tekkatte in the taluk for some time. “Initially, the going was good. However, without my knowledge, Chandra married a lady named Usha from Malpe. Thereafter, the life turned hellish. Usha often came to our house and fought with me. Our quarrel also was referred to the police station, after which, Chandra arranged for my stay in a rented house in Mysore. He used to visit me frequently, and meet all the expenses. Since the last some time, he stopped visiting me, and I could not even contact him over phone. Frustrated and directionless, I came to Vakwady along with son, Harish. I was assaulted by Chandra, his second wife, and other people in the house,” she claims.
It is gathered that Myna stood her ground and stayed put at her husband’s home in Vakwady, even after Usha chided her for her efforts to cement her relationship with Chandra. In the evening, all hell broke loose after Chandra Poojary returned home. After verbal altercations, Chandra Poojary, with the support of his family members, is said to have beaten up Myna.
In a complaint filed at the local police station, Myna has named Chandra Poojary, his father, Koti Poojary, mother, Kamala Poojary, Usha, and some others as the assailants.
