Jaipur, Apr 8: Welcome one and all to Super Sunday. The first match is between Rajasthan and Kolkata from the Sawai Mansingh stadium. Rajasthan have gotten off to a winning start in this tournament. Ajinkya Rahane was the star in the previous match against Punjab and he will be the player to watch out for. Kolkata were frustrated by the rain in their first match and they will be eager to get going today.
Kolkata have won the toss and elected to field
Gambhir: It's just the start of the tournament, we've played only 1 12 over game. We have experience and quality so we should do well. I firmly believe that individuals can only contribute but it's the team that wins. Love playing in Rajasthan, it's a high scoring venue. We have depth in our batting, hopefully we can restrict them and chase it down. Narine comes in for de Lange.
Dravid: Important to win first and keep the momentum going. Good to see youngsters like Rahane and Cooper do well. We can't go too far in the tournament with only a couple of contributors, we need a lot of people to do well. It's a marathon, not a sprint so we have to be ready. Would've bowled well as well but it doesn't make much of a difference in a T20 game. We're playing the same eleven.
Iqbal: It's very hot, but we have to get used to it. It's the season to play matches. Akram has played a lot of cricket so he shares a lot of experience. He has some useful tips even for the spinners.
Kolkata (Playing XI): Brendon McCullum(w), Jacques Kallis, Gautam Gambhir(c), Manoj Tiwary, Yusuf Pathan, Debabrata Das, Laxmi Shukla, Rajat Bhatia, Brett Lee, Sunil Narine, Iqbal Abdulla
Rajasthan (Playing XI): Rahul Dravid(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Ashok Menaria, Brad Hodge, Owais Shah, Kevon Cooper, Ankeet Chavan, Shreevats Goswami(w), Johan Botha, Amit Singh, Siddharth Trivedi
So Sunil Narine gets his first IPL game today. West Indies are playing a Test series against Australia back home, but one of their best spinners is in India playing for Kolkata...
Kolkata and Rajasthan have had contrasting starts to the tournament. Rajasthan, the team that relies heavily on each player contributing, started with a comfortable win over Punjab. Kolkata on the other hand were routed by Delhi in a rain curtailed game. None of Gambhir's superstar batsmen made any impact. The travel to Rajasthan, which has become something of a stronghold for Rajasthan, with hopes of bucking the trend.
