Chennai, Apr 4 (IANS): India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni admitted that it has been a mixed season for the World Champions since winning the World Cup a year ago.
"We had ups and downs. We won the World Cup which was very big for us. After that, we did not do well in England and Australia. It is a big season for us. The last T20 game we played was officially the last game of the season. We will get a break after the IPL. It was a mixed season for us," Dhoni told reporters here Tuesday.
Dhoni, who lead Chennai Super Kings for the fifth time in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), hoped India would be consistent in the coming days.
"We will like to be more consistent wherever we go. In the coming years, we would like to be consistent in whatever format we play," he said.
The India captain said playing the World Cup at home was tough. He also said that injuries and poor form of some of the key players only made things tough for the team in the tours to England and Australia.
"It was tough in the sense to play the World Cup at home. Too much of expectations, then you visit the countries where you are supposed to do well and you are hit by injuries. If your batsmen or bowlers are out of form, that also has an impact. This is something every side goes through," he said.
