Mumbai, Mar 7 (PTI) : Three Maharashtra-based players of the World Cup-winning Indian kabaddi team will be given Rs one crore each, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said today.
Abhilasha Mhatre, Surekha Bartakke (Mumbai) and vice captain Deepika Joseph (Pune) will get Rs one crore each.
The team coach Ramesh Bhendgiri will be given Rs 25 lakh cash prize, he said.
The three players and the coach were felicitated by Chavan at Mantralaya today.
"The state government is proud of the players who brought laurels to Maharashtra and is committed to encourage this sport," the Chief Minister said.
Chavan also congratulated winners of the 59th National film awards from Maharashtra.
"The standard of Marathi films has gone up in the last four-five years," he said.
