Mangalore: Annual Festivities of Mariyamma Temple Celebrated with Joy

Mangalore, Mar 7: The annual festivities of Sri Mariyamma Temple, Urwa, Boloor was held on Monday March 5 and Tuesday March 6.
The festivities, known as Urwada Puje, began with the Kalasa Prathista Pradhan Homa on March 5 at 6am. Mahapuja was also held in the noon. Later, a maha ranga puja was organized at 7 pm.
'Haaluhukkisuva' puja (boiling of milk) held at 9 pm attracted a large number of devotees, followed by 'darshana bali', 'katte bali', 'made snana', 'kanchil' and other religious rituals.
The feast continued on the second day with many religious rituals followed by Rathotsava inside the temple premises. Thulabara (weighing) is one of the special rituals followed every year. As one day one, devotees were present in large numbers.
The temple was decorated with flowers and attractively illuminated to give it a grand festive look.
