Panaji: Saddened by Trends, Goa Congress Legislator to 'Take A Nap'

Panaji, Mar 6 (IANS): Disappointed with the result of the first round of counting of votes cast in the assembly elections in Goa, a Congress contestant said Tuesday that he was "going home to sleep" and that he would return only if a miracle happens.

Speaking to reporters as he was walking away from the counting centre, Congress candidate from the Aldona constituency Dayanand Narvekar said that he would return to the counting centre only if a "miracle" happened.

"I am not happy with the results of the first round. I am going home to sleep. I will come back only if there is a miracle," said Narvekar, a former deputy chief minister of Goa.

Aldona has been a Congress constituency for nearly three decades now.

Narvekar's chief rivals are the Bharatiya Janata Party's Glenn Ticlo and Trinamool Congress'Wilfred de Souza.

Glenn Ticlo was leading by 2,373 votes at 10 a.m.
